One night stay after seeing family locally and on route for a week away in Devon. Hardstanding pitch close to shower and toilets. Fairly clean, lots for use. Site looked massive but didn't have time to explore. Great location for family's and dog walkers straight onto forest.
Large campsite in the New Forest near Burley with good toilet and shower blocks, small play park, wide open areas, electric hook up and non electric pitches on grass or the old Airfield tarmac. Well stocked shop for gifts, treats and essentials with occasional visiting fish and chip, pizza and breakfast vans. Easy access to the woods for walking or cycling. Cafes and pubs nearby. Not too far to visit attractions or the beach. Very reasonable prices even in holiday season.
Pretty good campsite located close to the coast. Lots of space around the tents even in August, which was nice and we managed to find a quiet spot over the back (as suggested by the friendly and welcoming staff on arrival).
Toilet facilities are fair, not the most modern we’ve seen. Wouldn’t recommend camping near them if you’re a light sleeper due to when the hand dryers are used in the night. Some road noise can be heard from the main road nearby. There’ a small playground for the kids, but not much else; would have been nice to have seen things like table tennis tables, etc.
Camp shop opens at 9:00, which is a bit late if camping without electric or own cooking facilities. We drove out to get a cup of tea in the morning instead. It did have some useful camping gear in stock (even fold out chairs).
Very picturesque surroundings and great for bike rides, walks in the new forest and short drive to beach. Would certainly recommend.
My family and I have been to Holmsley 5/6 times now and it simply doesn’t disappoint, wide open fields, large accommodating pitches, spotless shower/toilets, extremely attentive, friendly, efficient and accommodating staff. A well stocked shop stocking just about anything you need. Frequent food vans for that odd treat. My personal thanks has to go to Tony, Tony is a staff member that took time to talk to my wife about a recent severe medical condition that he himself had suffered some years ago, Tony has given my wife the confidence and belief she can recover. Tony didn’t have to do that, but he made the time…Tony as with all your other colleagues THANK YOU, you all made our holiday very special, one my wife will never forget. We will be back. 5* 👍
Amazing time, amenities easily accessible. Toilets, showers and sinks for dishwashing all close by. Forest to have a hike. Beware of the horses. Good times.
Some very rude, hostile staff with no people skills who lie about having spoken to you. Shame as the site itself is lovely. The manageress even made a sexist remark when we were trying to reason with them but sadly it felt like a power trip. This was our third visit, previous experiences ok but we seemed to feel bullied/targeted this time. We were shouted at upon arrival once to put our tiny dog on a lead (we had the lead in our hand about to put it on) yet other wardens and visitors permanently had theirs off a lead. This woman apologised for shouting, admitting she’d had a bad day and was in the wrong but then appeared to complain about us which resulted in one of our party members being told to leave, ruining a child’s birthday trip. I attach a few photos of dogs (not ours) all taken on site, off leads on 16th September 2023. We paid a lot of money to camp, including extra for a gazebo etc and the treatment from some of the staff was unforgivable. One last thing.. male wardens will continue to enter female changing rooms even if you respond telling them you’re in there! I was mortified whilst just out the shower in a towel, with my young daughter whilst one male staff member entered the facilities to start talking to me!
AVOID, take your family anywhere but here.
Stoney bumpy pitches in some places, lots of dog poo left for the kids to tread in.
Shop doesn’t open until 9am and shut completely for two days. Stocked well when open.
Some positives, facilities are clean (but closed for long periods), lovely forest areas to walk and lots of wildlife to see.
Great campsite with friendly staff keeping the place clean and tidy the only reason I give it 4stars is during my stay one toilet block was shut and the other had a number of cubicles closed plus the lock on the disabled bathroom was broken not locking the door properly.
The forest walks are great with plenty of off site activities if you want
Absolutely loved the 4 nights we've just stayed at Holmsley, activities put on for Halloween too and despite the wet weather the kids loved that we had our own river in the awning, Toilets perfectly clean , play park was brilliant and the shop had the essentials and more , the staff were amazing , will definitely be back next season !!
